AUDITION NOTICE: GRADUATE PLAYERS 2019

PLAY SHAKESPEARE IN PRAGUE!

Since 2016 the ASC youth company, Graduate Players, has completed three successful international tours of full-scale productions of Shakespeare. In 2019, the ensemble is set to return to Prague…

Early in 2019, the ASC Graduate Players will begin work on a streamlined and musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s much-loved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing. It will complete a short Melbourne season of 4 performances and tour to regional Victoria, before heading to Prague. This fee-paying program will give participants the opportunity to work with professional ASC staff, including directors, musical director, choreographer and actors over a 12-week period as the show is rehearsed and actors are coached in Shakespeare techniques and acting methodologies.

All participants will be offered the option of staying on in Europe after our season, to tour at your leisure, as an open-ended return ticket will be available. We will also offer arts touring following our performances, including a workshop with Prague Shakespeare Company, and attending a PSC performance (subject to availability).

Entry to the program is by audition, which will be held in December (please see dates below). Directors will be looking for experience and/or interest in Shakespeare as well as musical skills.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to perform in Europe, network with international artists and work on Shakespeare with one of Australia’s leading theatre companies.

TESTIMONIALS

Roisin

Company 2016

The program ‘to me is not just about getting up on stage and playing a role, it’s about learning what it means to be actor. This was an incredible journey from the first script read through in a room in Williamstown to the final bow on stage in Prague, and we as a unit pushed through together. I loved just how involved we all got with every aspect and everyone had a say which made it our show. Thanks to the wisdom and keen eyes of our directors Kevin Hopkins and Phil Sumner we created something memorable and I can’t thank Bravehearts enough from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity.’

‘The highlight of the program was performing in Prague! But getting to work on such an awesome Shakespeare show, and really building a relationship with the cast for such a long time…and then getting to travel and do the show in three different venues…it’s been awesome!’

Catherine

‘I love Shakespeare, and wanted to gain more experience doing Shakespeare, and gain more experience with the language of Shakespeare…and so I saw this program and thought it would be perfect and fulfil all those requirements I was looking for. And it absolutely has! The environment of being in an international city, with a show we were all really proud of, and getting to open it and have a great audience…you can’t top that!’

Mihir

‘Doing a full production and having that whole process has just made me a whole lot more comfortable with it…and I’m not afraid of it now- it’s made me love Shakespeare more!
