Romeo & Juliet

Through authentic performance and between scene analysis specific to NSW curriculum, this session focuses on the nature of conflict and love. The relationship between the star-crossed lovers and their character development, an investigation as to who or what is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, and the position of women in a patriarchal society.

Macbeth

Go beyond the language on the page and into the hearts of these characters with spine chilling performances. Students get up close with the supernatural as they join us on stage for the selected scenes and witness how magic penetrates Macbeth’s psychological state. The formidable Lady Macbeth is dissected tracking her descent into madness with the simultaneous unravelling of Macbeth.

Othello

Unit Module: Narratives that shape our world

Linked with Unit Module: Narratives that shape our world 
Explosive performances of key scenes and speeches drive the passion and rage this play demands. Coupled with razor sharp learning content between scenes, students witness the devastating effect cunning malice has on Othello until ultimately his own mind betrays him and he spirals into a place beyond redemption.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Encapsulating the whole play and the interweaving worlds of the humans, fairies and mechanicals to give students a playful experience of the text in performance. Students then experiment with ideas, forms and language enabling them to express their own interpretations and enjoy the play with their own authority.

The Merchant of Venice

Linked with HSC Unit Module: Text and Human Experiences     

Honouring the text with rich, multifaceted performances this session connects students to the anomalies, paradoxes and inconsistencies in human behaviour and motivations. Between scenes we deep dive into character, Shakespeare’s language and the original context and explore how adjusting this context, playing with purpose, stylistic and grammatical features and form impacts the human experience. This session is pure gold for HSC students.

Richard III

HSC Unit Module: Textual Conversations

Unapologetically wicked, students lean in to witness the creation of this Machiavellian villain in his blood bath to the crown – through to his own beheading. With engaging exploration of the characters, the women of the play, analysis of the historical context and Shakespeare’s language, students then leap imaginatively into the role of composer through the lens of Looking for Richard, deepening their ability to draw parallels.

Play On Shakespeare

A riotous 1 hour introduction to the words, worlds and works of The Bard, this fast paced interactive show is perfect for upper Primary and lower Secondary students. Featuring Bottom and Titania’s unlikely romantic encounter from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, the beautiful balcony scene from ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Macbeth’s infamous banquet and the fatal final duel from ‘Hamlet’.

 

Duration: 1 hour

The Tempest, Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, As You Like It,

Henry V, The Taming of the Shrew

Available for all plays, this 2 hour session is a full rehearsed reading enabling students to hear professional actors give weight and meaning to the text – lifting it beyond the page. With discussion between scenes, students are immersed in the world of the play.

 

Duration: 2 hours

Cost: $1,600 (max 100. Then $16 each)

Shakespeare Day

Immerse your students in the world of Shakespeare with a feast of performances and active, ‘on your feet’ drama style workshops. Designed to inspire students through connecting with the characters and jumping into the richness and playfulness of the language. Embolden them with an experience they will take into their written expression and beyond. Choose a full day with two plays and 2 x 1 hour workshops, or a half-day with one play and 1 x 1 hour workshop.

 

Cost: Full day $3,400 or Half day: $1,700

Workshops

Dynamic Shakespeare workshops for all ages! A perfect addition to any incursion or a stand alone session. An experienced Australian Shakespeare Company actor teaches the basic theory of Shakespeare’s poetical devices and puts them into practice through a series of fun activities.

 

Duration: 1.5 hours: $600

Max 40 students per workshop

 

Professional Development Excursions

Collaborate with teachers from different schools for these interactive and inspiring events at multiple venues across the State throughout the year. Reward yourself with the chance to be the participant in these PD sessions applicable to Shakespeare and other texts across the curriculum.
